SENIOR MOLD MAKER JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Moldmaker to join our team and play a key role in our success.
Job Overview: As a Senior Moldmaker, you will be responsible for the fabrication, modification, and repair of molds used in the plastic injection molding process. You will utilize your expertise and craftsmanship to create molds that meet exact specifications, ensuring optimal functionality, durability, and efficiency. Your attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality molds will contribute to our ability to deliver exceptional products to our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate molds according to engineering drawings, utilizing various tools, machines, and techniques, such as milling, grinding, and lathe work.
- Perform modifications and repairs to existing molds, ensuring they meet customer requirements and are in optimal working condition.
- Collaborate with design engineers to provide input on mold feasibility, functionality, and manufacturability during the initial design stage.
- Conduct thorough inspections and measurements to verify mold accuracy and precision, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed documentation of mold fabrication and repair processes, including records of measurements, adjustments, and materials used.
- Train and mentor junior moldmakers, providing guidance and sharing best practices to foster skill development and team growth.
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in moldmaking techniques, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in moldmaking is preferred.
- Proven track record of at least 5 years of experience as a Moldmaker in the plastic injection molding industry.
- Proficiency in mold fabrication techniques, including milling, grinding, lathe work, EDM sinker and Wire, and use of precision measuring instruments.
- Strong understanding of mold design principles, mold materials, and mold construction methods.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and CNC programming is a must
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail, precision, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
